Museum Receives Recognition from Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass

Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass has been awarded the 2015 Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG) Institutional Award. Each year the AACG selects an organization to be honored for its contributions to the contemporary glass movement. Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass received an unrestricted grant from the Alliance and is invited to present a public program at the Sculptural Objects and Functional Art (SOFA ) exposition in Chicago in conjunction with the AACG Annual Meeting.
Past honorees include The Knoxville Museum of Art, Chrysler Museum of Art, Toledo Museum of Art, deYoung Museum, Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, Museum of Arts and Design, Corning Museum of Glass, Museum of Glass, Tacoma, Washington, and National Liberty Museum.
Of the announcement, Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass Executive Director, Jan Mirenda Smith said, “We are honored to be recognized for our commitment to educating our audiences and creating a place for exciting discoveries in contemporary glass.”
The award will be presented to Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass on Saturday, November 7th at 4pm during the SOFA exposition at Navy Pier in Chicago.

The Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to further the development and appreciation of art made from glass. The Art Alliance informs the public, including collectors, critics and curators, by encouraging and supporting museum and art center glass exhibitions, and public programs and regional collector groups.
