The Fox Valley Area High School Glass Exhibition at Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass will open on Saturday, March 4th to showcase talented young area artists in celebration of national Youth Art Month.

On January 23rd , 16 students from St. Mary Catholic High School visited the museum with their instructor, Jessica Ott. The groups split between the flameworking studio where they learned to work glass over a torch and the fusing studio where they cut glass sheets and placed shapes to create their designs.

Ms. Ott, who appreciates being able to bring her students to work in the studios each year says, “This field trip gives my students a chance to try something completely new and exciting. I love being on the outside watching my students learning from others, having a good time, and maybe even being a bit intimidated by the new medium.”

They did just fine. Come and see.

Here is some student work.
