Mosaic Celebrating Community Diversity on View
Posted on Dec 27, 2018, by Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass
A mosaic celebrating diversity in the Fox Cities is on view at Bergstrom-Mahler Museum. Staff from Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass and Building for Kids in Appleton organized the creation of a Community Diversity mosaic.
This piece is the result of a shared art project conceived to foster greater understanding and appreciation for diversity in the Fox Valley. Beginning at Diversity Discovery Free Day in February 2018, and continuing at the museum’s annual arts festival and other events across the area, people of all ages contributed to the mosaic by designing a collage and making glass tiles. Each component of the artwork represents an individual and personal contribution, reflecting and celebrating the diversity that strengthens our community.
The work was completed in partnership with local artists Beth Vanderloop, Taylor Moeller-Roy and Michelle Sharp. The project was funded by a Bright Ideas grant from the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region.
