On behalf of the Board, staff, and volunteers of Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass, Happy New Year!
We have a full year of fun-packed activities, innovative exhibitions, and special events all around our love of glass planned for you. 2022 also marks a very special celebration: The United Nations International Year of Glass. Honoring the importance of glass globally, our events along with other museums will be included and celebrated as part of the year-long focus.
So why celebrate glass? The medium’s incredible technical abilities and versatility have been responsible for centuries worth of scientific and artistic innovations. Also, 2022 marks the 60th Anniversary of the Studio Glass Movement that had significant origins here in Wisconsin. I am excited to highlight one of our new initiatives for you that will be part of both celebrations, our inaugural GLASS Arts Festival on Saturday, August 13, 2022.
“GLASS,” which stands for Glass Lakefront Art Show and Sale will be held on the museum grounds and centers on our mission: glass art and glass art experiences. Providing distinction from other art festivals in the area, this admission-free community event will support glass artists, collectors, and enthusiasts, as well as our vendor partners and greater community with a new experience celebrating everything glass. We invite all artists working in the medium of glass to please apply.
Please know that when you come to Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass, take a class, attend a talk, or participate in one of our many events this year, you are an important part of our celebration of all things glass.
See you in the galleries,
Amy G. Moorefield Executive Director
Of course, due to Covid-19 levels in our area and out of respect to our healthcare workers, we will continue to take precautions to keep our community safe during all of these events. Please review our current COVID-19 policies prior to attending these events.
