Kristin Thielking and Lisa Beth Robinson

Our next featured artists from the Sharper Edges exhibit are Kristin Thielking. and Lisa Beth Robinson. Thielking is a professor at the University of Wisconsin –Stevens Point teaching sculpture, drawing, design, and printmaking. Originally from Long Island, New York, she received her BA in Fine Arts and Comparative Literature from Brown University. Her MFA is from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in Sculpture with a concentration in Glass. Before coming to UW-Stevens Point Kristin taught drawing and glass (kiln casting and fusing) at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She also taught 2D-Design, 3D-Design, and workshop intensives in glass at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Kristin has been an artist-in-residence at the Vermont Studio Center and the John Michael Kohler Arts Center Arts/Industry Foundry Residency program, and has also served twice as an artist-in-residence for educational community collaborations at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. She has taught for the Maria Walsh Sharpe Foundation in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and children’s classes at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, Colorado.
Lisa Beth Robinson has collaborated with Kristin Thielking on some of the work in the exhibit. Their work focuses on ocean conservation and shipwrecks as a reflection of the human condition, with waves as the embodiment of the liminal threshold we are traversing.
Lisa Beth Robinson is the proprietor of Somnambulist Tango Press where she makes artists books, fine art, and collaborative chapbooks and broadsides that visualize the relationship between language and experience, making connections between disassociated objects and concerns. Her primary research interest is colony collapse disorder, both in and of itself and as a metaphor for environmental and socio-political acts.
The women’s work will be on view through February 19th.
